Unraveled Veins is an abstract drip painting built from countless lines of blue, red, gold, purple, and white. The colors intertwine, overlap, separate, and run across the canvas in layers, creating something that feels simultaneously organic and fractured. The endless drips and winding lines represent the scars left by years of struggling with self-harm; with each line becoming part of a larger accumulation, a visual record of repetition, pain, and time. Like veins spreading beneath the surface, they cross and reconnect, creating a tangled map of experiences that cannot simply be erased.
The colors are deliberately varied, the reds and blues can suggest blood and bruising, while the gold, purple, and white introduce something beyond the immediate pain: memory, endurance, change, and the possibility of healing. As the lines travel downward, they begin to bleed together; what begins as countless individual streams eventually collects into a dense mass of blue and black at the bottom of the canvas. The individual marks become difficult to distinguish from one another, reflecting how years of repeated experiences can accumulate until they feel like one overwhelming weight. There is no single wound represented here; there are countless traces, layered over one another and eventually merging into something larger than any individual moment.
Unraveled Veins is not about glorifying self-harm, it is about giving visual form to something that was once difficult to express, and acknowledging the marks that years of struggle can leave behind. What begins as countless separate lines eventually becomes one story.
